Walking through the Old City of Mosul is an emotional journey through history’s ruins. Once vibrant streets are now lined with crumbling landmarks and former family homes. Amid the rubble lie fragments of everyday life – abandoned books, clothes, and broken furniture, silent witnesses to what once was. Some walls bear the marking SAFE (آمنة) – a sign left by sappers to indicate that the building had been cleared of explosives. But even with this mark, the fragility of these ruins is undeniable.
