Driving around the Midwestern countryside, one sees many old farm buildings falling into ruin. For me, this is painful to see because it represents a loss of our architectural and cultural heritage.
Note: Mary and John Farrell gave me permission to reprint this story on the history of their barn. I met them at the Cayuga County Historian's Office in 2001, where they were researching local barns.
